According to the Social Security Administration’s Fact Sheet of January 31, 2007, almost one-third of Americans entering the workforce today will become disabled before they retire.
The average monthly benefit paid by Social Security Disability Insurance is $1104 a month (Social Security Administration Fact Sheet 2008). Only 39% of applicants for Social Security Disability Insurance were approved as of 2005, according to the Office of Disability and Income Security Programs.
