Long Term Care Insurance

No one likes to think about it, but as we age, or become ill, we may need help with daily tasks. We may need help for ourselves or for our parents. According to statistics of the US Government website, www.longtermcare.gov, the chance of needing long-term care by the time they turn 65 is as high as 70%.

The 2009 Genworth Financial Annual Cost of Care Survey reports the national average cost of care in a one-bedroom unit in an assisted living facility is $2900 a month.

Having to pay for this expense can cause financial hardship and family strife.

There are several ways to protect yourself and your family. A long-term care policy may be the answer. Not everyone is interested or able to purchase a policy. Other planning options are available through the use of certain types of investments or life insurance.
